Making your Christmas Table

Making your Christmas Table

It’s (almost) the season to be jolly – and here at Rapunzel’s Retreat we’ve been working on some gorgeous home decor styles to make your Christmas table sizzle. Friends and family will delight in your preparations – which look cosy, warm and inviting. This year we’re keeping it simple with Scandinavian chic styling and hearts. This look involves simple tablecloths in whites or creams with patches of embroidery, a soft red and white theming and a few unusual extras like our Scandinavian candle and rose petal hearts.
Scandinavian Christmas Place Setting
In order to both compliment and clash a little in a funky way, we’ve added some hot pink heart-shaped place mats and coasters. These are not your typical christmas shades (that being forest green, glittery tinsel silvers and golds or reds) but they work exceedingly well, creating something a little bit different. And, as a bonus, because they’re not covered in reindeer or Christmas fir tree shapes you can use these for other occasions throughout the year. Christmas is a special time of year so adding individual handwritten place card holders is a sweet personal touch. For a bit of fun we’ve also added some heart-shaped blackboards with chalk, attached by a peg at the back, to the wine glasses so you can play games like ‘who am I?’ between courses or pass notes back and forth to one another.

Hot pink place mats and Scandinavian candleTo finish the look we’ve also added some distressed shabby chic bunting which swishes around the table beautifully and some cute decorative Russian dolls – which is certainly a talking point. Russian Dolls, Bunting and Tea LightsAll in all – it’s a contemporary yet homey pure and simple style that makes a pleasing alternative to traditional tinsel-covered tables!
